What is Thrive Global?

Thrive Global is a behavior change technology company founded by Arianna Huffington. It offers a platform designed to help people build healthy habits and reduce stress. The platform provides personalized recommendations and tools, such as meditation exercises, sleep tracking, and productivity tips, to help users improve their well-being and performance.

Our primary software product is a behavior change tool sold to enterprises. 


Problem

After the unprecedented events of 2020, which saw millions of workers voluntarily leave their jobs in what became known as the "Great Resignation," CHROs at large enterprises found themselves in a position of unprecedented power and influence. With generous budgets at their disposal, they eagerly sought out innovative tools and technologies that promised to solve the dual challenges of boosting workplace productivity and employee satisfaction.

However, by 2022, the winds of change had shifted dramatically. The once-flush budgets of CHROs had all but evaporated, replaced by a newfound era of fiscal austerity. Many buyers referred to this period as the "get back to work" era, symbolizing a significant shift in priorities and perspectives.

Suddenly, the CHROs who had once been enthusiastic partners in piloting and iterating new workplace tools were replaced by CFOs who adopted a more risk-averse approach. This change in leadership brought with it a heightened focus on immediate ROI and a reluctance to embrace innovation for its own sake.

As a result, startups and vendors in the workplace productivity and satisfaction space faced an uphill battle. They had to adapt quickly to the changing needs and demands of their buyers, demonstrating a clear path to value and tangible results within a shorter timeframe. Those who succeeded in navigating this challenging environment were the ones who could effectively communicate the measurable benefits of their solutions and align them with the new priorities of the CFOs.


Solution

We took the core platform and reconfigured it to solve for an individual, chronic illness patient. Instead of focusing on workplace well-being, we sought to solve patient compliance and individual health choices. We pursued integrations with Epic, a major electronic health record provider, to create a more rich set of data about an individual user. Our goal was to reposition our software to cater to a new user segment while simultaneously leveraging the successful features we had already deployed. We recognized the need to adapt our core platform to address the unique challenges faced by individual, chronic illness patients. Instead of focusing primarily on workplace well-being, we shifted our attention to improving patient compliance and empowering individuals to make informed health choices.

To achieve this, we reconfigured the platform's capabilities to align with the specific needs of chronic illness patients. This involved customizing user interfaces, workflows, and functionalities to cater to their unique requirements. We understood the importance of seamlessly integrating with existing healthcare systems to provide a comprehensive view of an individual's health data.

We pursued strategic integrations with Epic, a leading electronic health record provider, to enhance the richness and depth of data available about each user. By leveraging Epic's robust platform, we were able to access a wealth of information, including medical history, medications, lab results, and treatment plans. This integration allowed us to create a more holistic profile of each patient, enabling us to deliver personalized recommendations and interventions tailored to their specific health conditions and goals.

Through this strategic repositioning, we aimed to create a software solution that not only addressed the challenges faced by chronic illness patients but also empowered them to take an active role in managing their health. By combining our proven features with advanced data integration capabilities, we strived to deliver a truly transformative experience that improved patient outcomes and enhanced the overall healthcare journey.
